These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Falcontext browser extension and the falcontext.com website (together, the "Service"), operated by Falcontext ("Falcontext", "we", "us"). By installing the extension or using the website, you agree to these Terms.
Falcontext is a Chrome browser extension that tracks writing progress 2013 word counts, goals, streaks, and prose quality 2013 while you write in Google Docs or other web-based editors, plus the falcontext.com marketing website.
Falcontext offers a free tier and a paid "Pro" subscription tier with additional features (currently: the 7-day trend graph, full Prose Analysis suite, Focus Mode, and the multi-manuscript dashboard). Feature availability may change over time; we'll make reasonable efforts to communicate material changes.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the extension for your own writing, subject to these Terms. You agree not to reverse-engineer, resell, sublicense, or circumvent the extension's license/subscription checks, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits.
You retain all rights to the manuscripts and text you write. Falcontext does not upload, store, or claim any ownership over your manuscript text 2013 see our Privacy Policy for exactly what data is and isn't collected.
The Falcontext name, logo, extension software, and website are owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of that ownership to you.
The Service relies on third-party services 2013 Google (Docs API, Chrome Sync), Datamuse (synonym lookups), and Lemon Squeezy (payments) 2013 each governed by their own terms. We're not responsible for the availability or behavior of these third-party services.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." Word counts, streaks, estimated completion dates, and prose-quality checks are heuristic tools meant to support your writing process 2013 they are not guaranteed to be perfectly accurate, and Falcontext is not a substitute for backing up your own manuscript through your editor or cloud storage provider of choice.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Falcontext and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension and/or cancelling your subscription. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially violate these Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Netherlands, unless mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence provides otherwise.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page; continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
